Well, if you actually consider it, some alternative medicine such as traditional chinese medicine and the ayurvedic medical approaches existed for more than 4000 years, the only problem lie with it is there was improper documentation done, but research and results were strong, dating all the way back to imperial dynasties. Second point, alternative medicine does have their place in the health and wellness, as they are more gentle, doing many seeming "miracles" for patients who otherwise cannot improve by modern medicine.
