converting alternative fuels?

Forest Duttinger: Ethanol, while a wonderful idea, would in actuality create some serious problems for us here on Earth. To match the demand we carry for gasoline alone, you'd have to turn about every inch of our farmland into corn-growing, leaving no room for cattle or any other livestock. When you're ready to go vegan along w/ everyone else in the world, then ask that question.

Kate Baune: I have.My diesel will burn an

Cassey Hollinghurst: Consider that if U add all the alternative fuels together it will not equal 1% of our fossil fuel use. There is not enough to make any difference.

Jonathon Labonne: that is going to take place whilst that is compelled upon us. we could desire to continuously be burning organic gas in many our automobiles, yet this shouldn't take place except oil is going over $one hundred fifty a barrel for a protracted quantity of time. that may not in any respect take place because of fact the oil manufacturers know that a compe! ting gas will positioned them out of corporation on the size they're raking immediately. the value will pass all the way down to evade any selection vehicle gas from entering into the industry in quantity....Show more

Mark Hovanes: If you were talking about a very small market, it would be easy.To produce enough ethanol and bio-diesel for several million vehicles, that's the main problem.Second problem, after production, is distribution.Third problem is getting consumers to purchase them.Fourth problem is most vehicles in USA are not equiped, or built to handle these new fuels.Currently there is NO economic incentive for USA manufacturers to change their old obsolete ways, and it would cost them too much capital, given current losses. That leaves government as the only "player" than can lead the way to change America, and invest in new technologies.Republicans would rather drill for more oil, than develop new tech! nologies. And, the way that ethanol is made, say in Iowa, is in! efficient, using corn for converson, whereas there are better alternatives.Brasil uses Sugar Cane, and can use whole stalk, rather than just seeds of plant. Is this enough explanation?A better alternative is wind-mills producing electrical power, because these can be put up in most places, near urban centers. They can be plugged into existing power grids. Less coal or nuclear power is necessary with wind-power. With future electric cars, you can charge your car at home, won't even have to go to gas stations.Cost is 2 cents a mile with electricity....Show more
