Can I still use them as reference?

Houston Venezia: If you've worked before, then do as the job application form asks and write down the names of people you've worked with (colleagues, department heads, bosses, etc.). Just make sure that you asked these persons' permission to use them as reference. However, if this is the first time you're applying for a job, then you can use as references the following:- teachers/professors/school department heads who can vouch for your performance- officers of clubs/groups/associations you joined as a member (great if these are socio-civic clubs because they'll look good on your resume)- student leaders who actually know you and can vouch for youGood luck!...Show more

Otto Lingafelt: you can but you should have a variety ... like a teacher, coach or a counselor

Phillip Modafferi: If you use friends as references, they are peer references.and may not have the strength behind them that true employer references would. If you have no previous employer, use adult! references such as teachers, friends of parents, high school counselors or the like.
