will a 700w psu fry my hardware?

Wilfredo Muldoon: The PSU doesn't fry your hardware. all the PSU does is supply power to them.

Jacinta Moitoso: The 700 watt rating refers to the maximum it can supply. The hardware will only draw what it needs. No settings should need changing.BTW, a psu converts AC to DC, not the other way round. It takes your household AC supply and uses it to provide +/- 12V, +/- 5V and sometimes + 3V.

Autumn Vacio: No. The whole purpose of a power supply is to turn DC (Direct Current) into AC (Alternating Current) so that it DOESN'T fry your components. It'll only provide as much power as necessary.
