Do you get offended by people using weapons for visual art?

Conrad Puleio: well kunfu is good but its not as cool as MMA¨!

Marvel Mcaulay: What you need is to stop fighting and see a therapist to help you with your anger issues

Darrel Stele: Whenever i get into a fight, and this is rare for me, i usually get an out of body experience, where i watch myself do everything, and like im not actually doing it, this has happened in every fight i have been in, and i do not like this at all because all i do is punch punch punch, i know many tactics like sleeper hold and wrestled for awhile, but when i fight it's like i have tunnel vision and i can't control myself.

Darrel Stele: idk. hes lost a couple in a row. he needs to ko this bosech. or what eva his name istiago by Ko rd 1

Boris Hadsall: Weapons don't belong to martial arts, they are associated with them and that's it. Who is to say that you can only use them for MA? Honestly, MA people just act as if weapons are theirs to claim. (Sorry other decent MA people,! I luvs MA ;D)

Veta Slicker: i think its kinda dumb to spin sais and not know how to use them in a real fight. they are a weapon they were designed to be used in sparing not for flash crap. if you cant use them in sparing then its pointless to use them at all. i have used every weapon i know in sparing.and on the other side a sai reacts very similar to a garbage can cover, many if not all of the weapons can be transferred to objects that can be found lying around. just because you cant carry a sai with you doesn't mean its useless i have training in about 15 okinawan weapons, and i found them all very useful in real situationsif your just twirling a weapon around aimlessly, your not doing martial arts.edit:> professor freakswort, that is one example of how tradition weapons translate to everyday object, i can run off a list of a hundred different items i can substitute for the 15 traditional weapon i have learned. what is more practical to learn how to use a 100 weap! ons or items around the house or learn how to use a hand full ! and have the ability to transfer that to a 100 objects?you people think too one dimensional or train too one dimensional in martial arts and need to open up your mind as well as the way you train.edit:>so professor freaksword, your basic argument is that it is better to wast time and learn 100's of weapons rather then a few weapons along with principals that can transfer to other items.learn to read it wasn't naming off 100 different traditional weapons it was naming off 100 items that can be used as weapons from learning traditional weaponstonfa useless ha. a crow bar can be used as a tonfa, ropes and chains have similar characteristics as nunchaku."Training with archaic weapons requires archaic training and too much modification to adapt realistically"this line tells me how much real training you have, which is zero, there is little to modify your just a one dimensional person if you think that its archaic and needs to be modified.edityep thats right change that 100 to a ! 15 and rewrite half the stuff, still doesn't change the fact that y you are clueless and one dimensional....thats what you wrote, dont blame me for what you write.i doubt you claims and im tried of arguing with trolls like you. i have better things to do...Show more

Dawn Saha: I take offense when people use weapons for "art" when they ignore general safety rules for that weapon. a example is when someone points a gun at another person for "art" that's not art, that's a load of bull crap.with a sai, demonstrate a high level of control and you demonstrate good art

Jannette Kotz: You could probably benefit quite a lot from some formal instruction in fighting. If you train Judo, you cannot punch, if you train boxing, you cannot throw.the thing is, formal training will rid you of any bad habits or failings. It won't make you invincible, but it is a lot better than just trying to get over it organically without guidance. You have to train the body to act in a second nat! ure manner as you would like it to.You are punch punch punch all the ti! me because that's all you ever do in a fight by your own admission. GO train in judo for a year or two and force yourself to learn a style that doesn't include what comes natural. You WILL grow....Show more

Bennie Lantgen: I know exactly how you mean with the out of body experience! i used to have the same problem it's just your adrenalin pumping wild so keep yourself focused on the person you are fighting and not yourself. You should be fineOh and don't look at the places you want to punch the guy it will totally give away what your gonna do.

Alden Sabio: He hasn't fought anybody worth mentioning as of his last fight. He came up short against Evans and he lost to Machida. If Silva wants to get back into main card status he's going to have to fight and beat somebody like Forrest, Rampage, or Lil Nog. If he loses to Boetsch Thiago is going to be leaving the top 10 LHW division. This is do or die for the guy.As for me, I was never impressed with the guy especially! in the Evans fight. I felt as though Silva had a shot but let it slip through his fingers. I'm not hating on the guy I just haven't seen Thiago do anything to great. He may start beating guys now after his herniated disc and become a knockout artist andI may become a fan, who knows, but as of now I'm not a fan of his....Show more

Lauri Ohl: Nope, everyone is a critic no matter what you use. You do what makes you happy!

Hobert Dula: That's like getting worked up and saying Jackie Chan doesn't really fight like that, he's a martial art wannabe.

Burt Stoecklin: No, I think people just might be a little disturbed if someone is whirling a three pronged knife above their head, and they appear to have not experience of martial arts. I personally think its awesome, when they do it right and also when it portrays some kind of meaning. I guess random people on the internet (quite rightly) think that it's not really a good image for martial arts if any random noob i! s throwing them around...clearly you don't fall into this category, so ! yeah :) good luck with the art...Show more

Rosie Travino: Nope,No problem.Would be cool if you also know the martial applications also.

An Cardine: If you want to brag and be a bully, Kung fu is not suitable for you. Kung fu is for people who are respectful and caring. They are humble and can defend. Just by blocking few punches or kicks from untrained person does not make any person expert. Kung fu requires dedication, humility, hard work and continous practice. The efforts are well worth it. My kid is 8 and in just less than 5 years he has can easily defend himself against an untrained full grown adult. Kung fu is not about your external strength but it is your ability to use your inner strength. It trains you to use your mind in such a way that you will be stronger than what you are in a normal situation. A great deal of the strength average fighters use is external strength. This is not the case with those who are more highly skilled Kung fu fighters.! They use both external and internal strength- body and mind....Show more

Hal Rouse: go to anything you like.kung fu is good.but do not say your master what you have written in the question

Lady Laflin: i think he is way to good to be on the the undercard...what do you think?

Shandi Wedge: http://ocbujinkan.com/pages/22/what-is-the-best-ma...Do your research, start visiting classes, and train. You'll have your answer. People here will just tell you that their martial art is the best and that your choice is garbage. If it interests you, is a complete art, and has a good trainer, it's definitely worth it, no matter what the style.Good luck....Show more

Houston Venezia: oh hey you just described me haha naw but if you wanna go into kung fu go for it but it all reallay depends on what your looking for sport or a hobby kung fu is cool to be more well rounded MMA is good or for self defense Krav Maga is cool its all what your interested in just research! what your looking for so you can get the best of your expirience

Bob Nakamoto: I am 14 and im so so fast. Im about 2x stronger then most of the kids in my class (not bragging just facts) and im 5'5 so im not an adult or w/e. Im good at dodging and im not fat. I wieigh around 115pounds. I;m thinking of starting kunfu what do you think? I was also thinking about kick boxing. I have a very high endurance level and can tough out pain without usually showing it

Rashad Marecki: alright buddy please dont go into a gym with no experience saying stuff like i'm 2 times stronger and faster and AWESOME. Because they will knock your Butt out.Be humble or you shall be humble get my drift. Martial arts is not about kicking A$$ its about discipline and hard work. But its worth it in the end.Just start taking classes try kickboxing try tai kwon do tray MUAY Thai , but find a good gym that will challenge you not a corporate gym that wants money.Good luck on your journey....Show more

Freddy Shutler: No, I do not.If it makes you happy, and you ! don't hurt anybody, go for it.

Sol Allphin: No offense, but you sound like you have some anger issues, maybe you don't get into a lot of fights, but if you can't physically control yourself or your actions it's very dangerous for you and those around you. Try getting into yoga or meditation, you might also want to see a psychoanalyst. I mean no offense but what you described concerns me greatly.

Phillip Modafferi: Do what you enjoy the most. If you enjoy it you're more likely to learn it and practice it. There is no better or best. Martial arts are just a tool for self defense. They all have the same purpose but are different in methods. All arts will work regardless of size, strength or gender. It's simply a matter of what you want to learn. Once you've decided that, find a dojo/dojang that isn't a black belt factory or McDojo.

Fred Caminita: I think most people would agree that Jennifer Garner looked awesome twirling sais on the big screen in the movies! 'Daredevil' and 'Elektra.'Nobody should be offended by weapons being u! sed in visual art. If it wasn't for weapons, we couldn't have Shakespeare plays.

Pamela Meno: Well I'm not a moron so I'll answer no. I don't get offended by weapons. In fact I love weapons! :)

Jerrod Guilfoil: Yea i agree with you i dont know why they put him to the undercard so quick. i dont ever feel like people always give him as much credit as he deserves. if you watch the fight when he fought jardine the commentating was pretty much against him up until the time he knocked out jardine. i guess hes not as famous and doesnt bring in as biig of a crowd in, i dunno. they gave kimbo alot of attention and he didnt even make it on the show. its all about what the fans wanna see in the ufc....Show more

Buster Exline: Uuuhg I AM going to learn to use them properly, but I'm learning the nunchucku (don't really know how to spell lol) at the moment. I SAID that I am in a martial arts class (soon to be classes yaaay) which means I WILL learn to use them properly! . Sheesh :P

Gwenda Micheals: You reacted the form you probably did for the reason which you have been petrified of being laughed at by utilising "the total cafeteria". the terror led to and became into extra exacerbated by utilising some psychological difficulty you have deep down, maximum possibly a deep rage that has been with you for a protracted time. in case you incredibly have an interest in freeing your self from this, you will be able to desire to seek for a psychological well-being expert. there is not something incorrect with doing this. You bypass to a doctor once you're bodily unwell. yet purely as contained with regards to a actual ailment the place you enable it bypass untreat, your violent temper will purely get gradually worse. you're a minor, so the incident interior the cafeteria did not effect in being despatched to reformatory. yet as quickly as you grow to be an person at 18, the gloves comes off and the total weight of the regulation would be bec! ame against you in case you probably did what you finished. you will ge! t sued and probable lose your job. as quickly as you lose your job because of fact something like this, employers are going to be very reluctant to even interview you much less provide you a job....Show more

Jacques Vaquera: Yes i find it very offensive. Just call it dancing because thats all it is. MAs are for self defense. Only douchebags try to show off. Thats just my opinion.

Benita Nancy: Hey,Just try as many martial art styles you can and then make decision. If you don’t know which martial art to choose, try to think whether you like to use your arms more than your legs. If that’s the case, then maybe you would like Boxing, Kung Fu or Aikido. If you like to use your legs more than arms, then Tae Kwon Do, Karate or Muay Thai should be your master art of choice. Are you a grappling type, maybe Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Wrestling would be the right choice for you? Do you like more or less contact? There are many choices so I’m sure you will have no p! roblem finding the one you like.hope it helps,maft...Show more

Benny Stehno: Hi thereFunny this one for me as the answer is yes and no.Yes because when people watch any form of xma display they think its ma when its clearly not!No because it takes a great deal of skill and committment to master the routine to make it look visually impressive.Martial arts were never ment to look nice! They only need to be efficient and effective! The best martial arts are crap to watch. But there the ones that work!Best wishesidai...Show more

Foster Koopmann: I personally don't care, but you may wanna learn how to use them to enhance the visuals. Knowing how to do something can really make it look better.

Jannette Kotz: do a lot of sparing but focus on calming down during the sparing. sparring is a great way to learn from your mistakes no matter what it is. if your scared you wont control yourself or something have your partner wear headgear and you should wear nothing as ev! ery punch will wake you up and get you used to being awake and calm.

Patricia Bolduc: "they are a weapon they were designed to be used in sparing not for flash crap"I would say that 99.9% of all weapon based training in traditional martial arts is for show over actual practical use. One of the few martial arts in which this is not the case would be Escrima, since using blades and sticks is a real life skill in the Philippines. If a sai behaves like a trash can lid (apparently your explanation for sai training effectiveness), then why not actually train with a trash can lid (or items MORE similar to items you can find lying around), since they both have different weight distributions from the handle? It's always smarter to train the way you may have to actually fight.Naming off 15 different traditional weapons doesn't change the fact that you can more easily train with items that share common traits with something you will find on the streets- remove the sidebar from the Tonfa (unless you regularly carry a police baton), the blade from a K! ama (unless you're a farmer), the rope/chain from nunchaku and you have a more realistic weapon of opportunity. Training with archaic weapons requires archaic training and too much modification to adapt realistically."your basic argument is that it is better to wast time and learn 100's of weapons rather then a few weapons along with principals that can transfer to other items." - At what point was this even insinuated be me?!? There are certain training weapons that best represent weapons of opportunity; i.e. a rattan stick represents a pipe/bat/rebar/etc, better than a Tonfa would - training with short blades can represent any variety of knife, broken bottle, etc. Not ALL traditional weapons are useless, but a great deal of them are. You only need to train in a relatively small amount of weapon types for self defense scenarios....Show more
